Local Area

The local small village of High Hurstwood is within 5 minutes drive and offers a pub, village hall and church. The village of Buxted which is about a 10 minute drive away offers a mainline station to London, farm shop, tea room, fruit picking and walks in the 312 acre grounds of the Buxted Park Hotel with its herds of fallow deer. Excellent walking too on the neighbouring farm and many footpaths in and around the village. Trout fishing lakes in the local area.

Surrounding Area

The ancient Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes, Alfriston and '1066 Country' inlcuding Battle, Hasting and historical Rye are all within an easy drive of the Granary. Other beautiful villages such as Fletching with its well known Griffin pub, and Mayfield with The Middle House pub both offering first class cuisine.

There are numerous places of interest to visit in the area - nearby Blue Bell Railway, the Internationally known gardens at Sheffield Park, various National Trust/English Heritage properties: Groombridge Place, Wakehurst Place, Batemans, Chartwell and Battle Abbey to name but a few. High Rocks, Glyndebourne Opera House, walking and picnicking on the South Downs near Lewes and Ashdown Forest with it's Winnie the Pooh connections in Hartfield. Horse racing at Plumpton and Golf at nearby East Sussex National Golf Course. Good variety of local shops and supermarkets in Uckfield and Crowborough respectively.
